Digital marketing is changing again. Watch the full video below:
As strange as it may sound, by the end of this year or perhaps sometime next year, marketers may start creating ads for AI agents first instead of targeting humans directly.
This shift is being accelerated by Google’s new direction toward agentic ecommerce.
What Is Agentic Ecommerce?
Google has introduced features that move toward agent-based shopping experiences.
In the near future, users may have AI agents acting on their behalf. Instead of manually searching for products, customers will simply give instructions to their AI assistant.
For example, a customer might say:
- Find me the cheapest option.
- Find a product with the best reviews.
- Find a product that includes specific features.
- Compare products and choose the best one.
The AI agent will then perform the research, evaluate options, and make recommendations.
Why This Changes Advertising?
Traditionally, ads, landing pages, content, sales funnels, and copywriting were created for human buyers.
The goal was always to persuade the customer directly.
But when AI agents become the primary decision-makers during the buying process, the way we create marketing assets may change.
Instead of optimizing only for human attention, businesses may also need to optimize for how AI agents evaluate products, services, pricing, reviews, and information.
In other words, agents may influence whether your offer gets shown to the customer in the first place.
AI Is More Than a Tool?
Many people still view AI as another software tool.
I believe AI is much bigger than that.
AI represents a shift in human behavior.
Just as the internet changed how people communicate, learn, and buy products, AI is creating another major transformation.
History has seen shifts like the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the Internet. AI has the potential to become a similar turning point.
What Marketers Should Do
If you are a marketer and your focus is limited to managing campaigns, it may be time to think beyond campaign management.
The future requires marketers to think like:
- Business owners
- Decision-makers
- Analysts
The role is evolving beyond simply running ads.
Understanding how AI changes customer behavior will become just as important as understanding platforms and campaign settings.
