How to give access to Google My Business Profile? GMB

As an agency managing Google Business Profiles for dozens of local businesses, we often get asked:
“How do I give you access without giving you my password?”

This is the correct, safe, and updated method as per Google’s latest interface in 2025.

Step-by-Step: How to Give Access to Google My Business Profile? GMB (Updated Method)

Google now lets you manage your profile directly from Google Search. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to Google.com and make sure you’re logged in with the Google account that owns the business.
  2. In the search bar, type your exact business name (as shown on your Google listing).
You should now see your Google Business panel appear at the top of search results — with options like “Edit profile”, “Promote”, etc.
  3. Look for the three vertical dots (⋮) on the right side of the business profile options bar.
  4. Click the three dots → select “Business Profile Settings”.
  5. In the settings menu, choose “Managers” or “People & Access”.
  6. Click “Add”, then enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
  7. Choose their role:
    • Owner – Full access (including removing others)
    • Manager – Can post, update info, respond to reviews (ideal for agencies)
    • Site Manager – More limited access
  8. Click “Invite” they’ll receive an email to accept access.

Tip: Most businesses only need to give Manager access it’s enough for running Google Ads, SEO, review management, and local updates.

If you’re working with an SEO team or running Google Ads with location extensions, they’ll need Manager access to your profile not ownership. This lets them do the work while you remain in control.

How to Remove or Edit User Access in Google My Business Profile?

  1. Follow the same steps to access “Business Profile Settings”
  2. Click “Managers”
  3. Find the user you want to remove or edit
  4. Click the three dots next to their name and choose “Remove” or “Change role”
