I talk about Digital Marketing [Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO, Performance Marketing], Freelancing, Digital Assets & Business.
One of the most common questions I receive is:
“Imran, which skill should I learn? Which course should I take? I’m so confused! or similar questions”
Mostly the new Freelancers, Learners or Students ask this question who wants to learn some skill specially digital skill, so I wanted to write a detailed response so that it could help maximum people.
This question carries immense weight. A single suggestion from me could shape—or possibly derail—someone’s future. It’s not something I take lightly.
Here’s the approach I always recommend, which I hope will help you navigate this uncertainty. Feel free to share your thoughts or add your suggestions in the comments to guide more people.
- Please understand this, what worked for me may not work for you.
- No one can understand you better than yourself
- Every skill/business is good, you just have to be expert in it and stay consistent & evolving
- No one has seen future whether this skill will be valid in future or AI will eat your job etc, [like you I also feel overwhelmed by the constant & sudden changes in digital world
Here is what to do;
- List down the skills you think you can do the best 3-5
- Explore each skill [Watch atleast 20 videos of each skill]
- At this point you know what skill is what and what they do
Note; Do not watch money videos that how much you can earn etc etc – just informational videos like learning videos - At this point you will know which are top 2 skills you wanna go forward with
- Now explore bit of AI – how AI can impact these skills – how you as human cannot be replaced in that field
- At this point start exploring and going deep to the final skill you decided – to avoid the noise do not watch again money making videos
Take Action to Build Momentum
- Share Your Journey
Start posting about what you’re learning on LinkedIn or Facebook. Let others know how you’re growing and how you can help them. - Offer Basic Services
Use what you’ve learned to provide entry-level services. Build a portfolio as you continue to learn. - Stay Consistent
Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Stay consistent, keep evolving, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Final Thoughts
The best person to guide you is you. While mentors and seniors can offer advice, they can only guide you if you ask the right questions.
Remember:
- Success doesn’t come from waiting for someone to save you.
- It’s about taking initiative and making decisions that align with your strengths and interests.
Best of luck! May your journey be filled with growth and success. And don’t forget to keep me in your prayers.

How do I know which skill to learn?
- Think about what you enjoy doing or what you’re good at. Write down 3-5 skills you’re interested in, and then explore them by watching videos and learning more. Choose the one that excites you the most.
2. How many skills should I focus on?
- Start with 3-5 skills, but try to narrow it down to 2 or 3 that you feel most passionate about or can see yourself working on for a long time.
3. Should I worry about how much money I can make from a skill?
- At first, focus on learning and getting better at the skill. Don’t worry about money until you feel confident in your abilities.
4. How do I know if a skill will still be useful in the future?
- Research how the skill might change or be affected by technology, like AI. Think about what makes you special and how you can add value in a way that computers can’t.
5. How can I practice what I’m learning?
- Start helping others with small tasks, even if it’s for free at first. This will help you build experience and create a portfolio of your work.
6. How do I stay focused and avoid distractions?
- Ignore videos about money and focus on learning. Share your journey with others to keep yourself motivated and accountable.
7. What should I do after learning the basics?
- Keep learning and get deeper into the skill you’ve chosen. Don’t stop at the basics—there’s always more to explore.
8. Can I change my mind about the skill later?
- Yes! It’s okay to switch if you find something else you enjoy more. The key is to keep learning and evolving.
9. How long will it take to become good at a skill?
- It depends on how much effort you put in, but remember that practice and consistency are the keys to getting better over time.
10. Who can help me if I get stuck?
- Reach out to people who are already skilled in the area you’re learning. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or get advice.
