How to get rid of Procrastination & improve productivity?

Recently I realized that multi tasking is another modern term could be used as procrastination. As Digital Marketer I have faced this for the longest 4 years and I wanted to help you, so in this blog I will cover How to get rid of Procrastination & improve productivity? What I did which helped me overcome this!

Well, yesterday I posted on my social media & I saw, it’s not just me but most of people are facing and it needs to be addressed;

Let’s check the post 1st (you can skip to next heading if you already read);

Slowly I am coming out of “Multi Tasking” myth!
Yes, you read it right, multi tasking is a myth or say it’s another term could be used for procrastination.
Example: 120 tabs are open in my browser, I am working on 1 tab, but by mistake I click on someother tab and next important task opens up, now I started working on that one, instead of finishing the 1st 1.
What happened was, I lost the track of time & end up doing nothing but delaying the tasks.

Now let’s talk what I did to over come this;

  • Understand the difference between Urgent & Important
  • Prioritize tasks
  • Create a to do list
  • Use timer to finish tasks
  • Remove distractions
  • Manage time

Understand the difference between Urgent & Important:

  • Urgent Tasks:
    • Need to be done NOW!
    • Have deadlines or cause immediate problems if not done.
    • Example: Fixing a flat tire so you can get to work.
  • Important Tasks:

    • Contribute to your long-term goals and happiness.
    • Don’t always have deadlines, but neglecting them can hurt you in the long run.
    • Example: Working on a project that will get you a promotion.

Remember;

  • Tasks which can be done in less than 3-5 minutes, do it right away, do not put any reminder or delay it
  • Tasks which are important but not urgent, put them in to do list, put a deadline to them
  • Keep note of everything you do

Prioritize tasks:

  • Write down EVERYTHING you need to do.
    Don’t worry about order, just get it all out on paper (or your favorite digital to-do list app).

  • Urgency vs. Importance:
    Review each task and ask yourself:
    Is it urgent (needs to be done right away) or important (contributes to long-term goals)?

  • Follow Eisenhower Matrix:

  • Follow Eisenhower Matrix

  • Tackle Your List:
    Complete the “Do First” tasks first. Schedule time for the “Schedule” tasks. Delegate or eliminate the rest!

Create a to do list:

  • I use these tools for creating to-do-list;
    • Trello
    • ToDoList by Google which integrates with your Google Calendar

Use timer to finish tasks;

  • Follow these 2 techniques whichever works for you;
    • Pomodoro Technique Pomodoro Technique
    • Timeboxing Timeboxing
  • Set the Timer (Select task & give yourself time to finish)
  • Focus Laser Beam (Silent all kinds of notifications & focus finishing)
  • Reward Yourself

Remove distractions:

  • Close those 120 tabs
  • Open only tabs which are relevant to the task
  • Keep your desk clean
  • Do not put anything infront beeps or shows notificiations
  • You can use tools to stop everything so that you can focus

Manage time:

  • Set time for everything and follow the time.

I talk about Digital Marketing including Google ADs, Social Media Marketing and SEO.
